    Department overview: Cost Management act as business partners to their clients (including Senior Finance Management, Business Heads and COO’s), actively managing their cost base and providing value-added financial information and advisory. The CDS Cost allocation team specifically also supports Legal Entity Financial Controllers, Transfer Pricing Tax and the Indirect Tax team. Please visit our website here for more information.

    Overall purpose of role:
    Cost Decision Support Client Face provide active management of cost base through budgeting, forecasting, month-end and financial advisory; they are subject matter experts for their respective business covering processes, systems, people and strategy; key aspect of the role is to build strong relationships with clients and be seen as trusted finance partners while providing value-added analysis, both BAU and for strategic projects, that will aid clients in their decision-making.
    The roles is in the Cost Decision Support Client Face Team are responsible for partnering with Central Functions ie.,HR, Legal, Risk & Compliance, Corporate Relations, Finance and Treasury business heads, COO’s and hub managers. It involves strong interpersonal skills and support team manager to provide regular interaction with other stakeholder teams across all regions and global CDS Finance teams in the UK, US and AP
    Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
    This section should include
    • Key specific accountabilities
      • Support w.r.t pre-month review of expense and accruals, calculation of accruals, liaise with Accounting Ops to ensure posting of both accruals, prepayment and reclass journals, adequate substantiation of accrual and prepayments.
      • Global Cost Review and Analytics
        • Global Cost Analysis by account line / cost centres
        • Run daily reports from BW / CAP during month-end process.
        • Assist in Budgeting, Forecasting process.
      • Flash Process
        • Flash adjustments by expense/ account line
        • Review and analysis of Flash Results
        • Issuance of Flash reports to Cost Decision Support business partners
      • Balance Sheet Reconciliation
        • Substantiation and reconciliation of all accruals and prepayments posted by the team
        • Balance sheet reporting by account line
        • Account Ownership sign-off
    • Stakeholder management and leadership.
      • Assist the VP and AVP in complex queries/requests/improvements. Coordinate possible FBP actions to address these queries.
      • Should have an ability to make decision independently and help assisting line manager in resolving the issue for whole team.
    • Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards
    Your Skills and Qualifications will include
    • Qualified accountant is preferred
    • Skills and Knowledge:
      • Knowledge on Month-end journals, Inter-company recharges, Flash reporting, Performance Reporting.
      • Excellent communication skills in both formal and informal settings & ability to interact globally.
      • Application: efficient in using MS applications, especially MS Office – must be proficient in Excel.
      • Process skills and critical thinking: ability to look at end to end processes, identify issues, root-causes and proactively implement improvement initiative.
      • Proficient MI analytical skills. Ability to drill down to details but also able to synthesize high level drivers and key messages for management updates.
      • Process control focused. Ability to identify key risks and controls in an accounting processing workflow.
      • Ability to understand client requirements and clarify ambiguities
      • Client-focused. Ability to work with clients in order to prioritise and balance flexible support vs SLA deliverables.
      • Positive attitude and energy towards challenges
      • Ability to team work and collaborate with cross functional/regional teams in a virtual environment.
