Save the Children in India works on 5 core themes: Child Survival, Education, Child Protection, Humanitarian and Disaster and Risk Management in collaboration with the Government, civil society organizations, and the community across 16 states and has reached over 3 million children across India.

    Programme Summary
    Save the Children will be implementing a two year old project on health and nutrition with the objective to ensure better health and hygiene status in the project villages through improved health, nutrition and WASH (Water, sanitation and hygiene) practices. The project’s outcomes is to create community awareness knowledge and practices on health and WASH, enhance the capacity of frontline workers, improvise WASH infrastructures, improve the accessibility and utilisation of government health services and building in community participation for sustainability of the project.

    Geographical Scope
    Save the Children has designed an intervention to work in Bangalore Rural district of the state of Karnataka. The project location is in 11 selected villages of Orahalli gram panchayat of Hoskote block in the above mentioned district

    Job Purpose

    The Finance and Grants Officer will ensure that all grants & finances are managed efficiently within SC operational structure & implementing partners- including grant risk assessment, Budgets for new proposals development, donor financial and non-financial compliance, and reporting requirements.
    Key accountability:

    • To roll out all grants of various donors within the SC operational office & all the implementing partners

    • To maintain all financial records and files on a day to day basis
    • To maintain systems for filling, stationery, store and asset registers
    • To monitor expenditure patterns for all programs and projects as per SOP of SC_BR.
    • Working Knowledge of Save the Children Sun/ NAVISION (GMS)
    • Handle cash and bank operations.
    • Scrutiny of Bills.
    • Follow up for outstanding dues.
    • Interface with bank to maintain account/ statements/ other banking related issues.
    • Preparation of monthly indents, Donor Reports, Cash flow statements.
    • Preparation of monthly financial reports like Receipts and Payments account, Bank reconciliation statements, Variance reports, Ageing analysis, Funds utilization reports
    • Preparation of periodic reports for submission to various agencies.
    • Handling Statutory compliance
    • Review books of accounts periodically and assist the state programme manager to plan better programme spend.
    • Coordinate with Auditors and prepare necessary reports for audit.
    • Ensure adherence to systems of accounts and finance.
    • Visit partner offices, monitor financial systems.
    • Support Finance Manager assess budgeting expenditure processes
    • Support Finance Manager to ensure master budget correlates with the funding tracker.
    • Capacity-building to ensure key staff (and local partners if applicable) have clear understanding of donor requirements and expectations

    Person Specification
    • CA fresher /MBA - finance/Post Graduate in Commerce
    • Well versed with accounting concepts and principles.
    • Good working knowledge of tax rules (Income tax, Professional tax, TDS)
    • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in Finance & Accounts function which includes minimum of 2 years in NGO sector.
    • Computer Proficiency with MS Office, Excel
    • Working Knowledge of ERP /Tally/SUN/NAVISION (GMS)
    • Experience of working in difficult and/or humanitarian crises environment.
    • Excellent understanding of donor compliance
    • Understanding of systems audit and articulating clear practical recommendations
    • Understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation as well as accountability towards donors and beneficiaries
    • Understanding of financial eligibility issues and of key principles of donor accounting
    • Knowledge of funding database/ grants tracker management.
    • Good negotiation, interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
    • Excellent communication skills in both written and oral.
