can a pensioner get refund on house rent?

    Iam a pensioner who retired from state government services.recently iwas taxed amount 2000 for exceeding amount of 40000 more of 30000(for pensioners there is no tax upto 3 lacs)..
    My question is how do i claim the refund of 2000 when i submit returns..and can i submit 80GG form ..i dont get HRA ?

    Yes, if you are living in a rented premise and not getting HRA then you definitely can claim deduction u/s 80GG.

    Rule 11B provides that to claim deduction under section 80GG, the assessee should file a declaration in Form No. 10BA. This can be filed online.

    if we take tax saving bond in a nationilised bank.. for suppose for taxable amount of 40,000 my father got 2000 deducted ..so how much amount he need to take bond to reach the exemption amount.

    Is the total taxable income 3,40,000 ?
    Tax thereon would be 4000 (w/o cess)
    2000 is TDS then rebate u/s 87A will be of Rs.2000 of tax.

    Only pay the cess or pay it next time.
