I would like to know if I can invest more than 1.5L in a financial year into PPF. My understanding is that there is tax exemption under 80C for upto 1.5L depending on the tax bracket I fall into. But I am looking at a safe and secure way of getting interest on my money and the interest being tax free. Any suggestions to my intent is also welcome.

No, you cannot invest more than Rs. 1.5 Lakhs in PPF Account.

This is the maximum limit that can be invested in PPF Account.

And here I'm not talking about tax deductions under Section 80C but with respect to investment in PPF Account

And I agree that PPF Account is one of the safest option to invest.

The Interest Rate is also good and the Interest is also tax free.

However, govt has put a max limit on investment in PPF Account so that people dont take unfair advantage of the tax free interest.
