The Deduction under Section 80DD & 80DDB is separate and is allowed over and above the deduction allowed under Section 80C

The deductions allowed are as follows:-

Section 80DD: Rs. 1,00,000 (increased to Rs. 1,50,000 from FY 2015-16)

Section 80DDB: Rs. 40,000 for Non-Senior Citizen, Rs. 60,000 for Senior Citizen, Rs. 80,000 for Super Senior Citizen

    Section 80C: Rs. 1,50,000

    Thank u sir
Actually my daughter was neurological patient and she has speech and upper limb and swallowing disability. Now she is treatment. I think i have a chance to deduct under 80 DD and 80 DDB. For that, is it enough to submit the bills from hospital or i have to get any certificate?

My family member who is dependant i.e. Daughter-in-law, was suffering from Dengue in September 2014 and I have spent Rs,77,000/- towards her treatment on account of Hospitalisation and medicines. Whether I am in order to claim deduction of a maximum of Rs.40,000/- under Section 80DDB for the Assessment year 2015-16.
