EXEMPT PORTION OF MEDICAL BILLS UNDER SECTION 10

    I was enjoying an exemption of Rs 15000 pa from my income from salary for the monthly reimbursement of expenditure incurred by me for the cost of medicines for domiciliary treatment( without hospitalization) chronic disease like Diabetes, Coronary artery disease and Hypertension which was reimbursed 100% by my employer against production of bills.

    Now that I am retired and nobody is reimbursing the monthly bills for the cost of medicines for the same domiciliary treatment, can I claim the same exemption from my income from monthly pension?

    No, but however S.80D deduction on account of preventive checkup and health insurance premium can still be claimed.
