    Hi,

My sister-in-law receives family pension from the state electricity board (as my brother who is expired was employed by the state electricity board). She is now employed with the same state electricity board and she receives both the pension and salary income from the same employer.

Employer has provided a single Form 16 for both salary income and pension income combined together.
While filing returns, should the entire income be shown under the head 'income from salary/pension' or should the income from salary be shown under the head 'income from salary/pension' and the income from pension under 'income from other sources'?

In either case is the deduction of Rs.15000 under section 57 ii (a) allowed as standard deduction for pension amount?

    Regards
    Srikanth

    Affirmative.

    Partially affirmative.
Its 1/3rd of such income or 15,000 , whichever is lower.
