  1. How much time does it take for a person to become a Chartered Accountant and what is the procedure for the same?

    If you start the CA Course after Class XIIth, the minimum time required to complete the CA Course would be 4 years and 3 months. The break up is as follows:-
    • CPT - 3 months
    • IPCC - 9 months
    • CA Final + Articleship - 3 years
    Although this sums up to 4 years, but there are certain other formalities as well which take almost 3 months.

    Therefore the minimum time required to become a Chartered accountant is 4 years and 3 months.

    However, in case you enroll for the CA Course after Graduation, you can take the benefit of the Direct Entry Scheme and complete the CA Course in 3 years.

    The new scheme of CA Course is only a draft scheme and has not yet been approved.

    The new Course will take a student approx 5 years to become a Chartered Accountant
