    Hi,
I've not been working/earning for the past 4 years. Do i still need to file the income tax each year? Please let me know. Thank you for your kind response.

    Best regards,
    Divya.

In case your income is not taxable - you are not required to file income tax returns.

Therefore, in your case - filing income tax return is not mandatory.

You can skip filing your income tax returns.

  3. Endorse the views expressed by Mr Gaurav. If one has earlier filed return online, then message will come from IT Dept to file the tax-return. You may submit appropriate option on line ( i.e. income is below taxable).
