    A person get gratuity 10 Lac in 2 year back, that was tax free, now he get additional Gratuity 1.50 lac as arear. it is taxable or not.

    Yes, it will be taxable if the person concerned was governed by the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, as the exemption limit prescribed under S 10(10) in such cases is Rs 10 lakh.

    2. The additional Gratuity recd as arrears will however be exempt from tax if the person concerned retired from the service of the central/state Govt or local bodies.
