My point is how to determine the holding period of listed share for the porpose of LTCG.... If such shares were sold after say 12 months holding in total... but when purchased such shares were unlisted and holding period was divided say 6 plus 6 months as listed and unlisted shares. Section 48 talks about listed securities..but it does not clarify if listing requirement.. STT paid requirement at the time of sale only will fulfill the required conditions to claim exemption u/s 10(38)...

The period of holding would be the sum total of the period when they were listed and when they were unlisted.

The period during which they were unlisted would also be taken into account
