Tax Return ITR 4S Sugam

My friend got notice for non-filing of Return for FY 2012-13 and 2013-14.
He is now trying to file the returns from FY 2102-13 to date. He is employed as a part-time drawing teacher, and in his free time, he also runs his own coaching class at Home. He does not maintain any accounts as such for his coaching class business.
Query: Does he have to file his return with ITR1 or does he have to use ITR 4S for showing his coaching class income as 8% of turnover under Sec 44AD ? Will evidence be required to be filed to show turnover, because he does not have any, and mostly recd cash ??
