    I hv recd the captioned intimation u/s 143(1). Under the column 'As computed Under Section 143(1)' the 'PRE-PAID TAXES :- TDS' amount is reflected as Rs. 1,39,563 instead of 2,25,735(sl 33) ie short stated by Rs 86172, even though the TDS has been deducted by my employer and is shown in my form 16.

    Hence, a demand of (Tax Payable) has been raised on me for Rs 1,05,677. I have raised Rectification as per 154 by filing an online application for rectification, as suggested in the captioned intimation.

    Please tell me is it enough or I should personally meet the IT officer?

    The TDS amount considered by the Dept is not considered as per Form 16 but considered as per Form 26AS.

    Check the TDS amount as reflected in your Form 26AS.

    At first sight, it seems that there is a discrepancy in your Form 16 and Form 26AS. Please check.

    @H k Sathyan sir,

    It is a normal case where Tax Credit under TDS is allowed less, as reflected in 26AS.

    But don't worry,.. a Rectification u/s. 154 of Income Tax Act, 1961 will work. ITO will consider the matter and will clear your demand.

    After a long time if still demand remain than again file letter u/s. 154 manually, by visiting ITO personally with all requisite documents.

    Steps taken by you are right, so be cool !!!
