Hi, I heard from my bank that form 15G is not for NRIs. Is there a similar tax exemption form for NRIs. I just get some interest from FDs which comes less than Rs.20,000 per year.

    Thanks

Form 15G is not applicable for NRI's. You must file an application under section 195(3) of the Income Tax Act to the jurisdictional tax officer to obtain a certificate of non-deduction or lower deduction of taxes," You must apply to the Income Tax Officer in your jurisdiction in India and if the Tax Officer grants you the waiver, you may submit this to your bank and claim TDS exemption.
