80CCD Deduction for NPS if Employer does not Contribute

    Hello sir I am employee from Maharashtra government. What benefit I will get from 80 CCD. I am not part of NPS. I am in service from 1998. How will I get this 50000 extra benefit. Can I save up to 200000 in GPF.

    Hi Kishore even if your employer is not deducting salary for NPS purpose you yourself can contribute not more than @10% of your salary to NPS and this can be claimed under sec 80ccd(1). This deduction is over and above the deduction of 1.5 lakhs under 80c. That means you can avail upto 2 lakhs of deduction.

    10% of your salary.. (Salary include DA if its part of retirement benifit but doesn't include any other allowance)
